The city

Città di Castello is the most important centre of the Upper Tiber Valley. The town is located in a wide-open and rich valley surrounded by green hills, on the border with Tuscany and the Marches, near to the main historical towns of Italy.

Città di Castello has ancients town-walls dating back to the sixteenth-century, and a very pretty historical centre full of museums, art-galleries, palaces and churches of remarkable importance. It is the typical city of the renaissance which has hosted the work of artists of great reputation such as Luca Signorelli, Raffaello, Vasari and many others until present days, with the maestro Alberto Burri, one of the greater protagonists of contemporary art.

You will discover Città di Castello for its artistic beauties as well as for the numerous events related to the ancient tradition of handicraft and period furniture, the truffle and the horse shows. Last but not list the popular chamber music festival: the “Festival delle  Nazioni.
